How it came to be...The building has been used for many purposes over its almost 300 year history. The historical building was first mentioned in documents in 1722. In those days, it was still a part of the former Söflingen monastery, and was erected as a utility building without dividing walls. The Löwen only accommodated animals and fodder to begin with. After secularisation in 1815, it was converted into a residential building and stables were added. It was also used as a malt house. Gold Ochsen brewery owner August Leibinger purchased the property in 1967. Until 2007, the three-storey building was run as a public house with an apartment available for rent. After renovations lasting for two and a half years, it was converted into a modern 3-star hotel. The historical building now has 18 rooms, 1 suite, 1 apartment and a restaurant with 50 covers. Each guest room impresses with its own flair, which required a delicate touch during the design phase. The intention was to retain the antique timber framework, and old brickwork was restored and exposed in some areas. Many old style elements have been retained. Crooked floors, sturdy beams and centuries-old brickwork characterise each individual room, the guest room and also the stairs to the hotel rooms on the first and second floors. The hotel conveys a unique atmosphere in a fantastic ambience in the heart of the Söflingen Klosterhof.
